Sunday night - The Enterprise - Camden calling*
Sunday’s gig was as hot and sticky as the previous evenings entertainment at the White Hart Tap, but a marked contrast in shows… For a start The Scratch were back to basics and doing what they do best… An in your face 30 minutes, in a small venue with a expectant atmosphere and people their to listen… it was also, it has to be said, great to be back playing in London again… Yeah the money’s the same as everywhere… None basically, (tonight excluded as we willingly did it for the charity)… But it’s good to get out of the home counties again… Having made the ‘Shires’ our home for 2 years, maybe a stint back in the smoke is overdue and if nights like Sunday night and indeed line ups like Sunday nights are on in the offing more often, then It’d be well worth a shift in focus…
Before The Scratch, we must mention the two previous bands.. First up The Stabilisers… A kind of Billy childish, rock’n’psycho 4 piece, who looked like they’d been round the block a few times (who hasn’t!), but in doing so had picked up loads of great tips and translated it into short sharp, exciting 2 minute thrashes… They were followed by our first sight and sound of the much heard about (in Rechaged Radio land) Dekay and D’Mans. A four piece band made up of Camden Calling members old and new. These guys have been tearing up the Tourdates unsigned chart, since we stopped last year and it’s clear to see how they’ve been collanising the top 3 so often… Brash, cool and street and well worth checking out!
Then it was (The) Scratch time, for the second weekend in a row featuring guest guitar hero Dave ( We are White Worm) Worm, depped for Steve Filth, who had been unavoidably detained… so with a set tailored for the lack of keys, the 3 guitar attack ensued like so… Texture, ATG, Biting on my lip, Alcohol, Wag Potential, 88th day of rain (which had the whole room freakin out incidentally), Dear Maniac, Teen Idol and a typically crazed… Gas Taps to finish things off nicely!!!
Big thanks to Alex who glues the whole thing together and all at the Camden Calling collective, who put on such a great DIY style night… AND yes Alex we can’t wait until 16th September twill be an honour to do the birthday bash x
